About the job
Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.
This is a team in the AI Innovation and Research organization in Platforms and Devices (P&D), that focuses on developing SWE agents that leverage the latest advances in multimodal AI and coding models to revolutionize the way we develop software for Platforms and Devices (P&D), significantly reducing the toil faced by developers within P&D and all over the world.
Your work involves cutting-edge research and development as well as shipping products with our partner teams to reach millions of developers. This is a collaborative effort, with deep partnerships across Google. You will be aiming for incremental improvements and stretching the possibilities of how AI will revolutionize coding.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
Responsibilities
- Establish and lead the India branch of the AI Innovation & Research SWE Agents team.
- Define and drive the team's technical strategy and roadmap, navigating the ambiguity of a "zero-to-one" product space.
- Collaborate with product teams across Platforms & Devices to identify high-impact developer workflows or products, develop and land agentic solutions that translate into direct product impact for these teams.
- Partner closely with AIR teams and Researchers across Alphabet (Google DeepMind, Google Research, Labs) to integrate emerging AI capabilities and state-of-the-art models into our agents.
- Foster a culture of rapid experimentation, innovation, and data-driven decision-making to continuously improve agent performance and reliability. Lead & mentor a team of engineers, cultivating a respectful and highly collaborative team environment.
