Senior Strategist, Trust and Safety, Shopping

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields.
  • 4 years of experience delivering data analysis projects and solving open-ended problems, utilizing SQL, building dashboards, and performing data collection, analytics, and visualization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in business analysis, statistical analysis or Machine Learning.
  • Experience in process/project management, with the ability to navigate and influence cross-team stakeholders.
  • Ability to solve large unstructured business problems in fraud investigations and risk management space.
  • Ability to process high amounts of data to drive business strategies and decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with multiple cross-regional and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

As a Senior Strategist, you will work with technologies in order to keep users safe on Google Shopping. In this role, you will develop and manage cross-functional relationships with Engineering, Product and Operations teams in a multifaceted effort to improve our processes for identifying and resolving policy and safety issues. You are a big-picture thinker and strategic leader responsible for the execution of complex projects with a group of stakeholders. You are proactive, motivated, organized, responsible, innovative in a fast paced environment. You understand the user's point of view and are passionate about using your combined technical and business acumen to protect our users. You will be responsible to analyze market trends, set forward-looking strategy, and implement scaled solutions to solve user safety issues, to ensure a high-quality user experience across Shopping products.

We partner with teams across Google to deliver bold solutions in abuse areas such as malware, spam and account hijacking. A team of Analysts, Policy Specialists, Engineers, and Program Managers, we work to reduce risk and fight abuse across all of Google’s products, protecting our users, advertisers, and publishers across the globe in over 40 languages.

Responsibilities

  • Manage strategies which increase user safety or improve user experience on Google Shopping in partnership with executive stakeholders from Engineering, Product Management, Legal, Policy, Sales and other Trust and Safety teams.
  • Perform investigative fraud and abuse analysis, producing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities for new signals, automation, workflow improvements and operational efficiency gains. Subsequently drive solutions to completion.
  • Act as a reliable domain expert and actively strengthen global partnerships with executive stakeholders across teams.
  • Take part in the regular on-call coverage rotation to resolve sensitive issues and escalations. This role may be exposed to graphic, controversial or upsetting content.
