Senior Tax Analyst

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law, Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in tax.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with spreadsheet software, including financial modeling, demonstrating proficiency with formulas, and manipulating data.
  • Experience working with corporate tax, transfer pricing, and indirect tax rules within APAC.
  • Excellent project management, tax research, and communication skills.
  • Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

About the job

Google's in-house tax team knows all things corporate tax. Made up of smart, perceptive Googlers with a flair for domestic, international, and sales and use tax, the knowledge and expertise of this team runs deep. You have years of experience in this field and an extensive knowledge of those tax issues most relevant to internet companies. While we don't give our Googlers individual tax advice, you make it easy for Googlers to get what they need to make good tax decisions. You find ways to work smarter by streamlining and automating our tax processes and systems, and find ways to be both innovative and compliant.

The role will play a pivotal role in providing end-to-end support to the senior member of the APAC Tax team. In your daily work, you will be responsible to support tax optimization, controversy, research, and cross functional projects for the APAC countries. This role requires close collaboration with tax experts, finance leaders, and various business units and will be critical to help resolve complex tax positions, support audit requests, and ensure the timely and accurate resolution of tax audits. Your work will directly contribute to optimizing efficiency and establishing policies that minimize the company's tax exposure.The name Google came from "googol," a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Support executive tax team members by staying abreast of changes in APAC tax laws and regulations, adoption of new tax laws, and assess and communicate their impact on the company's tax position.
  • Recommend solutions to support business partners to navigate the complex APAC Tax landscape.
  • Manage tax audits, develop and implement audit strategies to drive to practical and timely issue resolution. Develop databases and models and conduct in-depth analysis of tax data for audits, compliance, valuation, and due diligence projects. 
  • Collaborate with tax, various cross-functional teams, and outside service providers in resolving complex tax positions and assist in establishing policies and procedures for tax position analysis and documentation to minimize tax exposure.
