Business Analyst, YouTube Trust and Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience working in data analytics, consulting, data science, engineering, or a technical operations role.
  • 1 year of experience in statistical problem-solving and analyzing data sets using SQL or comparable coding language (e.g., Python, R, Java, C++).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience in an analytical role.
  • Experience with abuse prevention, policy and regulatory systems, and in project management and process optimization with data analytics.
  • Experience with extracting, sampling, and visualization of data sets, writing and maintaining ETLs which operate on a variety of structured and unstructured sources, delivering production level metrics, insights, and actions.
  • Ability to take ownership of projects by setting and achieving milestones, synthesizing input from stakeholders, managing multiple projects, creating outputs appropriate to the audience, and driving final deliverables.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

As a Business Analyst, you'll utilize data and analytical techniques to define success metrics for YouTube trust and safety operations, measure business performance, and communicate convincing narrative to executives. You will work with key business partners to understand data needs, write extract, transform, and loads (ETL) scripts and collaborate with other internal teams.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with cross-functional to drive consensus on business objectives and define/evolve metrics and measurement methodologies that fit YouTube Responsible Feature Access (RFA) team’s priorities.
  • Generate insights to improve business performance by setting metric baselines and goals, understanding drivers and root causes, and identify opportunities for the team.
  • Learn the objectives and dynamics behind partners to contextualize in realizing the broader responsibility objectives for YouTube.
  • Build and maintain reporting pipelines and dashboards, and identify, contextualize, and influence closure on gaps in the data that impact the ability to generate insights.
  • Analyze and debug escalations and identify trends that can indicate product risks.
