Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of professional work experience with 5 years in operational and cross-functional roles.
  • 5 years of experience leading teams as a people manager addressing risk, fraud, abuse, trust, safety, privacy, or security issues.
  • Experience collaborating with global and cross-functional partner teams.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA, Master's degree, or PhD in a related field (e.g., Analytical, Technical, Legal, Operations Management).
  • Experience in operational roles, portfolio management, business insights and analytics, process optimization, program management, financial management, and resource allocation.
  • Experience operating at Google, in global management roles, working with multiple executive stakeholders and ability to influence at all levels.
  • Passionate about developing the team as a whole, including direct reports and across the Trust and Safety leads and Directors teams, with respect to integrating and driving coherent strategic actions.

Trust and Safety team members identify and address critical problems challenging product safety and integrity. We use technical expertise, problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, Shopping, and Google Ads. We are big-picture thinkers and strategic team players passionate about doing what’s right, working globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to fight abuse and fraud with urgency. As Director, Strategy and Operations (Chief of Staff) for Trust and Safety, you will be a key member of the leadership team, working closely with the Vice President of Trust and Safety and other leads. Your role involves running day-to-day operations, partnering with internal and external stakeholders on priority projects, and driving strategic planning and development for the global organization during a pivotal time.

In this tole, you will manage three primary functions: strategic planning and communications, operations (including business planning and daily operations), and project/program management. This includes partnering on roadmap and priority setting (e.g. organizational OKRs), driving strategic projects, managing operational cadences, ensuring accountability, and executing programs that invest in our team and people (e.g., skill development, wellness efforts). You will collaborate within the organization and cross-functionally to develop and manage resourcing plans, integrate efforts, and enable our team to execute and innovate rapidly.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $253,000-$356,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage annual strategic/business planning, translating strategy to action with global teams. Distill and cascade strategic narratives for stakeholders, leveraging data for insights and executive recommendations. Facilitate communication and decision-making across Google.
  • Run core operations and business cadences, establishing processes and tools for managing a large, global organization. This includes proactively identifying and solving organizational problems. Enable organization-wide people initiatives like global team integration and training, and partner with Finance and People Operations to manage headcount and costs.
  • Drive global impact leading executive-partnered initiatives. This includes structuring analyses, developing recommendations, and communicating findings to leadership. Determine and implement execution plans, applying systems thinking to integrate technology and processes with business objectives. Collaborate to deliver on high-priority projects.
  • Foster a high-performing team environment, providing mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities to direct reports and broader team members.
