Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Learning Sciences, HCI, Cognitive Science, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Expertise with large-scale survey design, implementation, and advanced statistical analysis, including understanding of how to apply these across the product development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, specifically the application of AI to enhance learning design, development, and personalization at scale.
  • Ability to scope and structure complex research initiatives involving multiple cross-functional teams, while advocating for research value to stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of leading and executing high-impact efficacy projects and impact studies specifically within a product organization.

At Google, we "Focus on the user and all else will follow." As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you make this possible. You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to gather insights and create industry-leading products.

You’ll play a critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research, including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. You will also grow within a supportive UXR community offering mentorship, regular meetups, and exclusive internal tools.

As a Learning Impact Researcher on the LearnX team, you will lead efficacy and impact research on LearnX. Your work will ensure we build products that deliver measurable learning outcomes while evolving our testing and experimentation methodologies. You will measure product impact throughout both early and late-stage development to provide actionable evidence and collaborate with cross-functional partners to build a unified impact roadmap.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$274,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute an impact roadmap to support product development with evidence-based insights, in collaboration with cross-functional partners.
  • Oversee strategic partner relationships and research projects designed to rigorously assess learning impact.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and lead consultant for all efficacy-related projects within the LearnX team.
  • Design and execute experimental studies to measure learning gains across various products and surfaces.
  • Lead exploratory research to define product hypotheses and identify key learning value drivers.
