Commercial Counsel, Cloud AI Go-to-Market

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • 7 years of attorney work experience in commercial contracts, intellectual property matters, business development or technology transactions.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience negotiating cloud technology and strategic agreements with enterprise customers and partners including terms for cloud platform services and AI products.
  • Experience providing pragmatic advice to business teams on intellectual property terms, privacy matters, and other complex legal issues concerning generative AI products.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage several simultaneous projects under time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Collaborative, with an initiative and willingness to work in a cooperative manner with other Legal teams and Google functions.

About the job

The Cloud AI Go-to-Market (GTM) Legal team advises on complex commercial legal issues at the forefront of AI and generative AI in the enterprise space. We support the legal needs of the Global Cloud GenAI GTM team, Cloud AI product team, and Cloud Applications product team by negotiating early stage collaborations to enable new Cloud AI/ML services and solutions, closing complex Cloud AI strategic partnerships and enterprise agreements, and partnering with the business to streamline and evolve Cloud terms for emerging AI technologies.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $239,000-$337,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Review, draft, and negotiate complex cloud technology agreements, including strategic partnership agreements, product development agreements and enterprise customer agreements to support the growth of the Cloud AI business.
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes for AI and other strategic product areas including generative AI.
  • Provide legal advice to teams such as Product, Sales, and Partnerships summarizing and communicating legal concepts and risks in a way that is meaningful for business teams. Advise business clients, as well as Finance and other stakeholders, on legal issues and risks, approval processes, company policies and procedures, IP, and business strategy.
  • Collaborate with other legal teams to scale and uplevel commercial AI/ML expertise and legal know-how.
