About the job

Our thirst for technology is a part of everything we do. The Data Center Engineering team takes the physical design of our data centers into the future. Our lab mirrors a research and development department -- cutting-edge strategies are born, tested and tested again. Along with a team of great minds, you take on complex topics like how we use power or how to run state-of-the-art, environmentally-friendly facilities. You're a visionary who optimizes for efficiencies and never stops seeking improvements -- even small changes that can make a huge impact. You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

In this role, you are responsible for the engineering execution and act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Team Leader (TL) for the development of data centers, including the data centers and colocation data centers with different strategies. You will execute the works with velocity, quality, scalability and cost effectiveness from the technical due diligence during site evaluation, design, construction and operation support, and advisory on the future changes and improvements. You will be collaborating with the global teams to align on the global requirements, technical directions, strategies and methods of execution, while incorporating necessary localization.

Responsibilities

  • Define data center system-level, product architecture, and Research and Development, while helping to develop operations and maintenance procedures for systems/processes.
  • Ensure designs and installations meet requirements (e.g., predicted cooling, structural, operational concerns, etc.).
  • Provide Civil and Structural Engineering expertise for design-related activities in connection with multi-disciplinary designs, sites, data centers and mission critical facilities.
  • Serve as Google’s in-house technical lead and advisor, and authorized technical representative through all phases of the Projects.
  • Work with the Google stakeholder groups, related architects and engineers (A/E), manufacturers, construction management firms, and construction contractors to execute the study, design or construction agreements on behalf of Google.
