Environmental Health and Safety Manager

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management and stakeholder management.
  • 5 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety program management, or in a similar industry.
  • Experience in workplace safety and environmental regulations.
  • Experience working in a logistics environment with outsourced providers.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Certified/Chartered Safety Professionals or certification from an equivalent agency.
  • Experience in communicating with State and Local Authorities on EHS issues in the Asia Pacific Region.
  • Ability to advise, coach, influence, and collaborate with employees to achieve positive EHS outcomes.
  • Ability to conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate with project management teams, with excellent communication skills.

About the job

In this role, you will be part of a team that is driving our safety management and performance within our logistics operations. You will involve participating with our outsourced service partners to develop and implement a safe working environment and proactive safety culture. The role will allow for daily involvement in operations to identify opportunities to reduce risk and improve overall safety performance within the warehouse environment. You define problem solving and risk-mitigation strategies and drive engineering/innovation initiatives to reduce risks.

You will lead projects that often involve multiple stakeholders Internal and External, over a number of locations and keep all parties coordinated on the project’s progress and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Google Cloud Logistics (GCL) Vendors to drive continuous safety improvements and create safety programs. Develop EHS standards and requirements for vendor contracts and operations. Audit vendors for compliance to both legal and Google EHS requirements.
  • Identify operational EHS risks, assessing the impact to the business, analyse risk scenarios to determine the potential impact to the business and lead cross-functional programs to mitigate those risks.
  • Review incident investigations submitted and communicate learning and preventive actions across the business to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct assessments of existing EHS programs to ensure alignment with Google Cloud’s strategy and regional strategy, including analysing EHS business risks and identifying, describing, and estimating efficiencies to be gained through established programs.
  • Travel up to 10% as needed
