About the job

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

The Fiber Infrastructure Engineering and Delivery team is a unified organization within Google Global Infrastructure. Our mission is to deliver the resilient long-haul and metro fiber assets and data center network space that power Google's global growth and AI leadership. We operate at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and global scale, ensuring Google’s network infrastructure is the most reliable and efficient on the planet.

You will lead complex, cross-functional APAC Moves, Adds, Retrofits, Changes, Utilities, Security (MARCUS) programs beyond your immediate organization. Focus on designing critical physical infrastructure additions within buildings carrying live traffic alongside existing infrastructure. Act as fiber infrastructure subject matter expert, remaining relentless about scaling network reliability with a growth mindset. Savvily leverage AI/ML technologies to identify innovation opportunities, proactively mitigate strategic delivery risks, and drive continuous improvements across all your programs.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate, design, and manage physical infrastructure programs for MARCUS projects, focusing on capacity augments in live data center environments.
  • Identify and collaborate with stakeholders to strategize, plan, and prioritize objectives and success criteria for complex APAC-wide programs.
  • Resolve strategic execution blockers in live-traffic environments, including material shortages and resource constraints across cross-functional teams. Develop cost estimates, feasibility studies, and detailed SOWs.
  • Create multi-perspective program documentation for senior executives. Measure and publish program metrics to drive decision-making and implement process enhancements for the broader organization.
  • Travel approximately 40% of the time, primarily to Google’s data centers and remote infrastructure sites across the APAC region.
