Global Commodity Manager, Printed Circuit Boards

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Materials Science) or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12 years of experience in technical sourcing, procurement, and supply chain management, with experience in the PCB supplier landscape and delivering PCB solutions.
  • 5 years of experience in people management, including leading and developing global teams.
  • Experience in PCB fabrication processes, materials science, and advanced substrate technology roadmaps.
  • Experience working with PCB suppliers or contract manufacturers in an infrastructure environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree in a technical or engineering field.
  • Experience leading the sourcing and supply chain strategy for PCB or advanced substrate commodities, including technology qualification and quality management.
  • Excellent leadership, executive presentation, and influencing skills across both internal engineering teams and external supplier executive leadership.

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.

As a Commodity Manager, you will work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. In this role, you will use your industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global and growing infrastructure.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $221,000-$311,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Grow and develop a team of Global Commodity Managers to deliver sourcing and supply chain objectives for the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and substrate technologies space.
  • Set quarterly and annual objectives and priorities for the team, including organizational resource planning and talent development.
  • Develop and execute multi-year strategies to achieve total cost of ownership (TCO), lead time reduction, supply capacity management, innovation introduction, and quality objectives for the PCB commodity.
  • Partner closely with Engineering and Product Development teams to influence the PCB technology roadmap, ensuring supplier capabilities align with future product needs (e.g., HDI, sequential lamination, high layer count, new materials, etc.).
  • Implement supply chain and process improvements through supplier performance metrics, scorecards, business continuity plans, and regular executive business reviews.
