Clinical Specialist, Health Team (Japanese, English)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Medical degree (e.g., MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent) and completion of accredited residency or fellowship, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of clinical experience after the completion of doctoral degree, nursing degree, or equivalent.
  • Experience providing patient care in the Japanese healthcare system.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience building or launching digital health products, including consumer health or medical devices, in Japan.
  • Experience developing research projects or partnerships with a range of partners including universities, public health organizations, and private sector organizations.
  • Experience leveraging AI technologies within the healthcare domain.
  • Expertise in assessing the health impact of products and programs, particularly those involving digital disease management solutions.
  • Ability to navigate complex, fast-paced, and ambiguous environments while working effectively within cross-functional product development teams.

About the job

The Clinical Team helps Google achieve its mission by providing clinical leadership, insights and guidance for the development of products, services and research that help everyone live more life every day. It supports products across Google that touch the health and well-being of people on a global scale. It is a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nurses and other health professionals, as well as clinical researchers, public health experts, and people who have run health systems - and it forms a global team with experience across every layer of health in a range of geographies (e.g., US, EMEA, APAC and more). This team works closely with groups within Google and across Alphabet.

As a Clinical Specialist, you’ll be an effective and influential contributor to our work across Japan, developing effective partnerships across the breadth of Google product teams and into the Japan health ecosystem. You’ll utilize not only your clinical expertise and knowledge of the Japanese health system, but also your excellent communication and partnership skills to appropriately shape research and product opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Use clinical domain expertise to provide guidance, insights and direction on Google’s health-focused products and platforms, working in a deeply embedded model with research, product and partnerships teams.
  • Work with external collaborators and maintain relationships with local organizations and key individuals, including engaging with government departments, academic medical centers, and the multisectoral health industry in Japanese.
  • Identify relevant guidelines, directives, policies, and evidence-based practices related to the development and evaluation of health products.
  • Adapt and prioritize to meet business and project demands with Global team. Take ownership of specific projects while actively contributing to others as needed.
