Data Center Thermal Equipment Engineer, Mechanical

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
  • 3 years of experience with mechanical infrastructure systems.
  • 2 years of experience in infrastructure design and cooling systems.
  • 2 years of experience with design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit.
  • 1 year of experience with modular construction/prefabrication.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Experience in applying data center technology.
  • Experience in product design and product development.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing design.
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas concisely across all digital mediums.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

In this role, you will be designing equipment within the mechanical cooling infrastructure. You will be a strong communicator, able to articulate complex ideas concisely across all digital mediums and provide technical leadership to evaluate, select, and deliver innovative equipment and solutions enabling fast and efficient construction of data center mechanical infrastructure systems at hyper-scale.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $122,000-$174,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical lead for our cooling plant equipment, collaborating with external equipment manufacturers and internal Operations, Execution, and Construction teams to develop new data center (DC) mechanical infrastructure products and equipment such as cooling towers, dry coolers, chillers, heat exchangers, and pumps.
  • Investigate and lead next-generation mechanical system equipment to align with company long-term strategies.
  • Advise the insertion of new technologies by collaborating with core Engineering teams during development.
  • Collaborate with supply chain partners for technical inquiries, vendor alignment, and business reviews.
