Program Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety (French)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience in Program Management.
  • 1 year of experience in the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) field.
  • Experience with the industrial application of the European Union (EU), Belgian, and Walloon EHS legislation.
  • Ability to communicate in French fluently to conduct communication with local authorities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a Prevention Advisor or National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) certification.
  • Experience working collaboratively with local authorities (e.g., on permitting, environmental inspections and audits, reporting), preferably within Wallonia, Belgium.
  • Experience working in data centers or industrial or chemical facilities (e.g., electrical safety, process safety, chemical management).
  • Ability to coach, influence, and advise leadership and vendor stakeholders to achieve outstanding EHS outcomes.
  • Excellent collaboration, project management, written and verbal communication skills.

As a Program Manager at Google, you’ll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish — working with stakeholders to plan requirements, manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. Your projects will often span offices, time zones, and hemispheres. It's your job to coordinate the players and keep them up to date on progress and deadlines.

As a member of the Compliance, Safety, and Risk Management (CSRM) team, you will be responsible for supporting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs, including management system implementation, environmental compliance programs and global oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Guide our new Charleroi data center through its opening and operation, ensuring full compliance with all relevant local, Belgian, and EU EHS legal requirements and permits, with a strong focus on environmental compliance.
  • Lead the end-to-end implementation and continuous improvement of Google's robust Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and environmental certifications like ISO 14001.
  • Partner with operational teams to identify, assess, and significantly reduce risks by developing risk assessments, reviewing high-risk activities, and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Engage with teams through safety walks, toolbox talks, inspections, and incident investigations, fostering a strong safety culture.
  • Execute global and local EHS strategies, design data-driven annual EHS plans for your site.
