Senior Privacy Engineer, Cloud Privacy Operations and Engineering

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience working in a privacy related field (e.g., security engineering, data engineering, data scientist, compliance engineering etc.).
  • 1 year of experience designing solutions for technological problems that maintain the privacy posture of the organization, leading teams across multiple workstreams.
  • 1 year of experience leading the application of privacy technologies (e.g., differential privacy, automated access management solutions, etc.) to solve technical and data management problems, customizing existing solutions and frameworks to meet user needs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in privacy engineering, security engineering, or a similar role.
  • Experience with privacy impact assessments, threat modeling, and risk analysis.
  • Knowledge of privacy best practices and mitigation techniques for AI/ML models, particularly Generative AI.
  • Understanding of data privacy principles, regulations, and industry best practices.

The Cloud Privacy Operations and Engineering team mission is to empower Google Cloud Product teams to design and build privacy-respectful products by providing an intuitive review experience and deep technical expertise.

In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of privacy for Google Cloud. You will leverage your expertise to conduct privacy reviews, engineer solutions to streamline privacy processes and guide Engineering teams in implementing privacy solutions. You will manage complex issues, influence product design, and contribute to a culture of privacy across Google Cloud. You will have an opportunity to make a significant impact on how Google protects user data and maintains user trust at scale.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive and own end-to-end privacy outcomes for Google Cloud products and services, with a focus on improving the privacy review and consultation experience through the development of innovative tooling and automation.
  • Conduct comprehensive privacy impact assessments, threat modeling, and risk analyses for new and existing cloud products and features, identifying potential privacy vulnerabilities and proposing effective mitigations.
  • Serve as a trusted subject matter expert on privacy engineering, providing guidance and mentorship to Engineering teams and other stakeholders on privacy principles and technologies.
