UX Researcher III, Google Pay

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience within UX, Human-Computer Interaction, or design research with focus on applied research in product development context.
  • Experience with research design applying qualitative research methods including usability studies, surveys, contextual inquiry, research through design with participatory design and generative approaches.
  • Understanding of different methods and ability to discern and adapt based on product phases.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with emphasis on teamwork and engaging cross functional teams with excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to distill findings into actionable insights and a strength in formulating problems and research questions.

Google Pay is one of the UPI products in India and has been instrumental in transforming the fintech landscape and everyday digital payments experience for millions of people across the country.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate User Experience Researcher to join our team and play a role in shaping new opportunities and product experiences for Merchants using Google Pay for Business. You will be instrumental in driving human-centered strategy across the product life cycle. This role offers a unique opportunity to conduct deeply meaningful applied research focusing on creating tangible, impactful product experiences.

Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Design and conduct research (e.g., foundational, generative, evaluative) to define new opportunities, shape product experiences and influence strategy across product cycle.
  • Use a mixed-methods approach, skillfully selecting and applying techniques such as ethnographic field studies, diary studies, and usability testing to gain a comprehensive understanding.
  • Integrate research within an agile development environment. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of researchers, designers, engineers, and product managers, cross-functional and industry partners to understand research scope, translate insights into tangible product concepts, prototypes, and frameworks informing product decisions.
  • Synthesize clear insights and develop actionable recommendations by crafting compelling narratives, applying design principles, and using actionable frameworks. Communicate these to key audiences to influence design and product decisions, and be proactive in bringing a human-centered point of view to the team.
  • Uphold ethical and responsible innovation.
