Technical Program Manager, Mechanical Supplier Quality, Data Centers

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • 4 years of experience in manufacturing, quality, supply chain, operations or test validation for mechanical, fabrication, generator, or Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) infrastructure equipment.
  • Experience in regional and local electrical safety standards and approved codes of practice and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with data center equipment or environments including switchgear, generators, controls, security monitoring systems, and fire safety systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in construction or equivalent industry experience in Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS).
  • 2 years of experience in technical program or project management role.
  • Experience in electrical safety in the workplace, equivalent to United States National Fire Protection Agency (US NFPA) 70E.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical Standards applied to Mission Critical Operations (e.g., American National Standards Institute (ANSI), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), etc.).
  • Knowledge of Mechanical or Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC) infrastructure equipment installation or deployment at data centers or other mission critical facilities.

The Data Center Infrastructure Quality team is responsible for quality product delivery to meet Google's data center needs to enable Google Cloud customer demand and internal compute power. The infrastructure quality mechanical team is responsible for the qualification and quality execution of the supplier from delivery to operations.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with supply chain, engineering, and data center site operations teams to deliver infrastructure capacity for Google. You will be the quality leader for assigned suppliers to facilitate the quality relationship between Google and their suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with supplier partners managing critical aspects of mechanical systems supplier quality, collaborate with hardware designers, commodity managers, manufacturing engineers, and drive supplier failure analysis.
  • Establish root cause and systemic corrective actions with demonstrated preventative solutions. 
  • Provide problem-sloving leadership to statistically connect production line metrics, tests, and quality audits to field performance.
  • Manage validation of supplier’s build or test processes and ensure they are meeting Google requirements, and validate supplier product lifecycle deliverables defined by Google and leverage industry quality standards.
  • Conduct supplier audits, inspect production facilities or lines, articulate quality improvement activities to reduce variability, improve predictability, streamline lead time, improve output quality, and more. Partner with suppliers to solve product quality and process issues across the full product lifecycle.
