Staff Software Engineer, AI/ML, Full Stack, Public Sector

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products related to Machine Learning, NLP, etc., and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience in languages such as Java, C++, Go, Python, or full-stack development.
  • Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (TS/SCI) security clearance with polygraph.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • Experience working collaboratively with various partner teams such as Product Managers and other Engineering teams.
  • Experience in two or more general purpose programming languages, preferably in back-end programming.
  • Experience productizing new technologies, from concept prototyping through to volume production.
  • Experience using GCP, GDC, or other Cloud services and with Kubernetes.

As a Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying solutions that address the unique needs of our public sector clients.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop prototypes and build front-ends and back-ends for greenfield projects.
  • Work with Google Public Sector (GPS) Sovereign Engineering and Google Distribute Cloud Engineering to survey existing pain points, and propose solutions and improvements.
  • Participate in and lead architecture and engineering designs with peers and stakeholders, and exercise technical judgment (e.g., deciding between available technologies).
  • Review code and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Articulate technical concepts and analysis to both technical and non-technical audiences, including engineers and executives.
