Data Center Services Manager

Remote location: Iowa, USA.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 8 years of experience in mission-critical facilities (e.g., data centers, chip fab, etc.).
  • 8 years of experience in the design-build or real estate development environment.
  • 5 years of experience in a leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field.
  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with data center equipment/environments, including switchgear, generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, controls, security monitoring systems, fire safety systems and working understanding of start up/commissioning processes.
  • Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of facilities with medium voltage and low voltage electrical distribution systems to include AC and DC systems and associated power management systems and SCADA tools.

As Google expands operations, we are focused on growing a highly qualified team to support construction and operations of our expanding footprint. You will be focused on design, construction, and capital project support for ongoing operations. You will provide strategic and tactical leadership over large build projects, develop teams of engineers and project managers, and serve as the partner/vendor development lead for key general and trade level contractors.

As the Data Center Services Manager you are responsible for the delivery and execution of data center construction in the central portion of North America. You are also responsible for the Moves, Add, Retrofits, Changes, and Security (MARCUS) projects in the region. In this role, you will have a team of Program Managers and Engineers who manage large-scale construction projects as part of a global program.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$248,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Interact regularly with leadership from key external stakeholders, trades, commissioning agents to develop understanding of project issues, risks, and opportunities across multiple functions.
  • Align teams around an understanding of project delivery strategy, key functional milestones, and workflow for large capital improvement and greenfield projects in order to focus stakeholders on active critical path management.
  • Provide leadership and development focus to internal teams consisting of project management and engineering roles, oversee active project schedule and cost control activities, and act as an advocate and partner for implementation of program level controls, safety, and quality initiatives.
  • Develop an organization with a customer service orientation to key internal stakeholders on both the data center and hardware operations sides of the business, cultivating a project delivery strategy and working to align extended stakeholders around the nuances of that strategy.
