About the job

Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager for Google Home's Horizontal Programs, we are looking for a strategic leader responsible for driving complex, cross-cutting engineering initiatives that underpin the entire home ecosystem. This will mean operating at a macroscopic level, leading foundational programs, such as Engineering Velocity, Quality initiatives, Policy and Compliance, Release Management, and Operations that span Gemini For Home, Google Home App, Home Platform, devices and our infrastructure.

The Google Home team focuses on hardware, software and services offerings for the home, ranging from thermostats to smart displays. The Home team researches, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Our mission is the helpful home: to create a home that cares for the people inside it and the world around it.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $227,000-$320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.

  • Establish a reliable and visible cadence for program reviews, decision-making, and prioritization across the home organization. Drive measurable improvements in engineering velocity and resource stewardship.
  • Lead a governance structure that drives effective executive decision-making for high-stakes launches and cross-PA initiatives. Ensure dependencies within home and wider Google teams are effectively exposed and mitigated.
  • Responsible for initiating and leading the organization through pivots needed to address shifts in business trends, such as the transition to an AI-first, agentic home strategy.
  • Serve as a highly credible thought leader within Google and the industry on operationalizing complex technology shifts, establish high-velocity program governance, and drive measurable organizational excellence in the major AI-driven pivots.
