Firmware Engineer III, Wireless Data and Voice Path

Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in modem protocol development, with a specific focus on 3GPP LTE and 5G NR data or audio path development.
- 5 years of experience in coding with a general purpose programming language (e.g. C/C++), wireless communications, mobile, and embedded systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with the 3GPP L2 protocol stack, including MAC, RLC, and PDCP layers.
- Experience in LTE and 5G MAC layer scheduling, including data prioritization, HARQ, and C-DRX alignment.
- Knowledge of wireless audio path components, including Jitter Buffer Management (JBM) and RTP protocol optimizations.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000-$198,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Enhance modem data path and voice traffic path features to improve user experience.
- Optimize LTE and 5G related audio paths including JBM, RTP, PDCP/RLC and MAC in the wireless modem.
- Analyze, debug and fix modem protocol issues from the testing team, certification lab, and customers.
- Work and design with the global carriers engineering team to meet customer’s performance and features requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-layer teams, including layer 1 and Android audio related teams.
