Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience as a Product Engineering/Management leader with a research background.
  • Experience with AI, systems and infrastructure.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering.
  • 15 years of professional experience in product management.
  • Experience leading both product and engineering or research/applied science.
  • Ability to quickly ramp up new subject areas with short notice to guide mission-critical research.
  • Deep technical expertise in systems and software with the leadership skills to influence technical leaders across the company.

About the job

As the Director of Product Management for TPU will drive the TPU product and Cloud TPU business end to end. This includes shaping the internal TPU roadmap, define the Cloud TPU roadmap of new product introductions, design and drive the Cloud TPU end to end platform experience for users and developers, and own the Cloud TPU business including projections, purchase decisions, growth, GTM, driving customer engagements, and closing customer agreements.

The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. Our end users are Googlers, Cloud customers and the billions of people who use Google services around the world.

We prioritize security, efficiency, and reliability across everything we do - from developing our latest TPUs to running a global network, while driving towards shaping the future of hyperscale computing. Our global impact spans software and hardware, including Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, the leading AI platform for bringing Gemini models to enterprise customers.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $272,000-$383,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the product roadmap for Cloud TPU, including new product introductions, developer experience, control plane functionality, and overall feature set.
  • Determine pricing models, pricing points, consumption models, and investment decisions across engineering, capital expenditures, R&D investments, and more.
  • Develop a strategic vision for the TPU products, with a strong focus on innovation and adoption.
  • Conduct thorough and regular market assessments of new innovations in AI infra and tooling, stay on top of emerging technologies and workflows, and learn from best practices in the industry.
  • Follow research trends in AI and Systems, and work with leads to determine the group’s research and innovation strategy. Develop effective partnerships across Google’s product areas (e.g., GDM, Core ML.) deeply understanding their strategic data priorities and infrastructure requirements.
