Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping.
  • Experience in application development in at least one platform/area (e.g., web, iOS, Android, CompDes, XR).

Preferred qualifications:

  • 7 years of experience developing responsive, adaptive, and performant websites and applications.
  • 6 years of experience as a front-end developer, UX Engineer, creative or design technologist, or in a prototyping design environment.
  • Experience in leading performance profiling and optimization efforts on constrained mobile or embedded systems, with proficiency in C++.
  • Knowledge of 3D math, including trigonometry, 3D transforms, and linear algebra, applied to solve testing visual or interaction problems.
  • Ability to architect, implement, and debug real-time 3D systems within a major game engine (e.g., Unity, Unreal) or an equivalent internal framework.

You’ll demonstrate your creativity, analytical skills, and knowledge of user facing technologies to create prototypes that identify the best product experiences, launch innovative features, build tools that accelerate UX teams, bridge between design and engineering discussions, and enable efficient, high quality execution.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000-$222,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype, develop, and polish the foundational 3D interactions and user interface components for Android Extended Reality (XR), from initial concept to final, shippable product.
  • Develop and implement scalable and stable systems to choreograph animations, motion, and audiovisual behaviors across the entire Android XR system, ensuring a cohesive and delightful user experience.
  • Collaborate closely with UX designers, product managers, and other engineering teams to define and refine the boundary between Android (e.g., Kotlin/Java) and our high-performance C++ graphics engine (e.g., Impress).
  • Optimize rendering and interaction run times to deliver beautiful, snappy, and responsive User Interface (UI) on mobile XR hardware, maintaining a high bar for performance and quality.
  • Advocate and build new tools, workflows, and best practices that accelerate the team's iteration cycle, enabling rapid experimentation and a higher quality final product.
