About the job
As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns based on understanding of journalists' interests; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns; and counter misinformation that might interfere with our business and ability to serve our users. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.
As a manager, you'll be responsible for a product area externally, or an executive or functional group internally. You'll act as a strategic partner, thoughtfully piecing together pitch ideas or weaving related materials into the larger business picture.
Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute campaigns highlighting AI's positive economic impact and our scientific leadership.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including journalists, creators, and influencers, to shape public discourse.
- Drive our digital presence, by developing our online communications strategy. Create engaging content for social media, such as dynamic videos and insightful podcasts, to connect with our audience and build an active community.
