Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience in system-level mechanical design and integration for consumer electronics and camera modules.
- Experience with integrating camera modules into products, including system-level mechanical considerations.
- Experience in mechanical 3D/2D CAD tools like NX, ProE/Creo.
Preferred qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in mechanical design of camera components and modules, with the knowledge of module manufacturing and testing.
- Experience with integrating camera modules into systems, including opto-mechanical interface design, analysis, and validation for performance and reliability.
- Experienced in material selection, validation, and application in electronics/optics, troubleshooting.
- Experience with implementing DFM/DFA during product design for production optimization.
- Experience with tolerance control, tolerance analysis and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Knowledge of epoxy and other adhesive properties (e.g., mechanical strength, temperature resistance, chemical compatibility) with excellent mechanical failure analysis skills, including troubleshooting and root cause identification.

Our Platforms Team designs and builds the hardware, software and networking technologies that power all of Google's services. As a Mechanical Engineer you design and evaluate our data center systems, identifying product requirements and contributing to research and project planning. From the chip to chiller, you are responsible for designing and optimizing an architecture that will scale with Google's continued growth.In this role, you will be the team's mechanical expert. You will own every mechanical design aspect of the camera module including its sub-components, tolerance analysis, performance, robustness. You will include reviewing the supplier's mechanical drawings, processes Design for Manufacturability (DfM), tolerance analysis and new opto-mechanical technology. You will perform technical analysis over mechanical design tests and reliability failures. You will work with cross-functional teams to build and integrate the advanced camera system to the products, by utilizing your mechanical design instinct, knowledge and experience.The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.
Responsibilities
- Work with internal cross-functional teams and external partners to define, design and lead the camera modules mechanical design development from concept to mass production.
- Review and develop camera integration with system teams.
- Perform failure analysis and drive corrective actions.
- Lead technology partners and vendors to advance camera module design technology for our products.
- Travel to support module and system builds, conference calls with teams and partners located at different time zones.
