Senior Engineering Analyst, Adversarial Fraud

Minimum qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience with data extraction, manipulation and analysis.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • Experience with threat analysis (e.g., Malware, Cloaking, Phishing, Cybersecurity, Scams) in the context of Internet-related products/activities.
  • Understanding of how AI/ML can be applied to operational workflows, such as moving from manual to automated reviews.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an fluid environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical concepts with cross-regional and cross-functional stakeholders at all levels.

About the job

As an Engineering analyst, you will be working on adversarial actors in Google Ads. As a member of our team, you will have the ability to apply the latest advancement in AI/ML and develop scaled solutions to protect the internet users from scams and real-world harm. You will be working with Program Managers (PMs), SWEs (ML/Anti-Abuse and Security Engineers), Policy, Sales and Review teams in devising strategy to outsmart the adversaries. Specifically, you will be working on developing data driven insights to identify new trends in adversarial fraud, automate enforcement using Agentic AI, feature engineering/ signal development for ML model improvements, reverse engineering payload, develop intelligence on threat actors, TTPs, etc., to stay one step ahead of the adversaries.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Partner with PM, Engineering, and Legal to build Defense in Depth strategies that enhance user safety and fortify the Google Ads ecosystem against emerging threats.
  • Lead in-depth investigations into Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) to perform actor tracking and disrupt organized fraud rings aiming Google Ads. Design and execute anti-abuse experiments to identify product shortcomings and stress-test Google’s protection measures against evolving scam patterns.
  • Apply advanced statistical methods and technical analysis to uncover sophisticated abuse vectors, such as malware distribution, cloaking, and policy circumvention.
  • Analyze massive datasets to identify anomalies and build predictive visual models for automated detection systems, and drive the rapid response for high-severity adversarial incidents by conducting thorough Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) to implement long-term structural preventions.
  • Facilitate occasional graphic content reviews, and infrequent on-call support during weekends/holidays.
