Regional Security Operations Lead, Indian Ocean

Remote location: Maldives.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with a government intelligence service, military, or telecommunications networking security operations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certifications in CISSP, CISM, or CCNP Security.
  • 10 years of experience in program management.
  • 7 years of experience in security management, specifically protecting critical infrastructure in non-permissive environments.
  • Experience in military, intelligence, or telecom operations, especially in submarine cable systems and crisis management.
  • Experience in cyber-security and risk analysis with the ability to travel 20% of the time regionally as needed.
  • Ability to translate intelligence into actionable security protocols, training, and ISO 27001/NIST compliant frameworks with excellent communication and negotiation skills.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

Google's Global Submarine Networks project is a critical initiative to expand and enhance our global Submarine Cable network infrastructure. This project will ensure faster, more reliable, and more resilient connectivity for Google services worldwide.

In this role, you will have specialized skills in submarine cable systems, Network Operations Management, Security Operations, Network Delivery, Operational Systems, Data And Quality Assurance. You will be protecting global critical infrastructure, specifically submarine networks. You will blend security expertise with program management to oversee physical and cyber-security operations. You will be driving proactive threat mitigation, managing crises, and liaising with international law enforcement to ensure the safety of organizational assets and personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive security programs for cable landing stations, aligning budgets, scope, and ISO27001 standards across physical, cyber, and intelligence domains.
  • Orchestrate regional operations by implementing surveillance technology, access controls, and managing contract security forces to protect critical infrastructure.
  • Execute risk assessments and threat analyses, overseeing the vulnerability management life-cycle to proactively identify and mitigate security gaps.
  • Lead incident response, investigations, and intelligence gathering, serving as the primary liaison with local and international law enforcement agencies.
  • Drive continuous improvement by monitoring program performance metrics and delivering security awareness training to employees and contractors.
