Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience in software engineering.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience and passion for building and growing successful consumer products in India and other markets, and familiarity with related business and consumer metrics and product development processes.
  • Experience in engineering excellence and execution, including experience with multiple modes of execution appropriate for large, complex initiatives with strict timeline requirements as well as fast, smaller iterative development.
  • Experience as a multi-site organizational leader, building and leading teams leading up to third-level managers.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong technical skills in areas related to user-facing products, highly scalable and reliable software infrastructure, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

This includes everything related to payments in its various forms, as well as exciting new financial services.

In this role, you will lead the Consumer and Platform Engineering teams based in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Singapore for Google Pay India. You'll be accountable for the growth of Google Pay and Wallet in India, leveraging these efforts to drive Google’s growth in India, and also to drive Payments and Commerce growth globally. You will lead the engineering organization and build successful consumer-facing products in a competitive environment. You'll partner with internal cross-functional teams and collaborate with ecosystem partners and providers such as national payment rails providers and regulators. You will also collaborate with global teams across Google and contribute to long-term direction and strategy for Google Pay in India as well as Payments more broadly.

Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Consumer and Platform Engineering teams based in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Singapore for Google Pay India. Develop exceptional user-facing applications, high-scale, reliable, and performant backend services, and compliant infrastructure.
  • Share accountability for the growth of Google Pay in India, leveraging these efforts to drive Google’s growth in India, and also to drive Payments and Commerce growth globally by collaborating with internal cross-functional leads.
  • Collaborate and represent Google with ecosystem partners and providers such as national payment rails providers and regulators.
  • Be responsible for engineering organizational development, optimization and health, engineering excellence, execution, and delivery, and new technology adoption and development (e.g., generative AI).
  • Represent Google as a senior leader, and build relationships with leading academic, government, and corporate institutions.
