Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 2 years of work experience with analysis applications (e.g., extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), or experience with a Master's degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3 years of work experience with analysis applications (extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (Python, R, SQL).
  • Experience in one or more areas of statistical, ML modeling, experimentation, survey design, building and reading from logs-based pipelines.
  • Ability to demonstrate problem-solving excellence and scale (e.g., peer reviews, version-controlled analysis artifacts).

About the job

Lens provides a new way to search for products using images, or combining image and text input to ask more complex questions. With the introduction of AI Mode (AIM), we have an opportunity to further a user’s capability to interact with the best of Search AI, using images.

As a Data Scientist, you have an eye towards higher-order user experiences but are also a technologist who embeds with engineering teams to understand and evaluate framework changes. You think about things in context, and understand how experiments interact with projects outside the immediate team. You will be an advocate for users, knows when complex investigative are warranted versus when summary statistics can solve a problem, collaborates closely with technical experts, and confidently communicates what metrics mean.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $113,000-$161,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis utilizing relevant tools (e.g. SQL, R, Python). Apply standard/common tools, resources, and processes to defined problems and for moderately difficult projects, execute problem-solving tasks with guidance.
  • Deliver growth opportunities for improving image use-cases in AIM. This includes analyzing clusters of usage patterns or feedback to gauge satisfaction, and identifying and measuring opportunities to improve experiences or introduce new features.
  • Analyze major project changes, from metric definition to experimental design to analysis.
  • Deliver ongoing metrics investigations and problem-solving prototypes for new input metrics.
