Senior Director, Machine Learning, Data Center Network Delivery

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 15 years of experience working in engineering organizations spanning work across engineering, product, technical program management and operations.
  • 10 years of experience managing technical projects in the technical infrastructure domain, including process optimization, program management, and cross-functional influence at leadership level.
  • 10 years of experience managing a team with influence spanning a global organization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or MBA.
  • Experience with complex global supply chains and operational environments, particularly in identifying and driving on-going process improvement, and leveraging software support to increase efficiency, ideally in a hyperscale environment.
  • Ability to lead large teams and major complex programs.
  • Ability to think strategically while executing with a sense of urgency, delivering capacity to meet customers’ demands on a timely basis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills.

About the job

The Global Network Delivery team is seeking a highly experienced leader responsible for the delivery of Google’s network and AI infrastructure across our data center footprint. You will lead a distributed team of technical program managers and infrastructure engineers responsible for the physical design, deployment, upgrade, and life cycle management of this critical infrastructure.

In this role, you will collaborate with our partners across data center, networking, and supply chain organizations. Among your many attributes you have a technical background in large-scale networks and data centers, which you will leverage to lead cross-functional teams to accelerate time to market and advance the state of the art of technical infrastructure.

From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $298,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for large, complex, cross-functional program teams that transform how we operate, by inspiring teams to challenge the status quo across our strategies, processes, and systems.
  • Increase the organization’s operational maturity of our planning, engineering, and execution across the organization.
  • Identify process gaps, align across teams to scale processes while ensuring the smooth deployment of quality infrastructure and capacity in support of the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Build strong partnerships across the technical infrastructure ecosystem, which includes our planning, engineering, delivery, and operations counterparts in the data center, supply chain, networking, and platform engineering organizations.
