Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in a data-intensive role such as threat intelligence, data science, trust and safety, or fraud analysis.
  • 2 years of experience in people management, mentoring and technical development of analysts or engineers.
  • Experience working with SQL or Python.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in a technical field e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics.
  • Experience in processes automation, developing LLM agents or applied AI.
  • Experience in large-scale data analysis and related tools and processes.
  • Knowledge in cybersecurity, anti-fraud, network engineering, malware or artificial intelligence.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in an ever-changing environment.

About the job

Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

The main objective of the Trust and Safety (T&S) Account and Device Intelligence (ADI) team is to prevent damage to Google Users and products through accounts by effectively responding to threats and deploying upstream protections that are scalable and flexible. We rely on defense in-depth when protecting Google accounts.

The team is currently divided into 3 subteams: Threats, this team is responsible for the qualitative and quantitative understanding, monitoring, assessment and response to an ever changing threat landscape, and using this to inform Google’s strategy countering those threats. Protections team is responsible for policy design and implementation at sign-up/sign-in/reAuth, productionisation of detection models, and quality of challenges, verifications and interventions. Intelligent Defenses team is responsible for building foundational models for account and device integrity, trust models development and building agents to automate repetitive operational tasks, like analysis of security events.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a team of engineering analysts in Zurich and Bangalore. Build strong relationships with the rest of the T&S ADI leads and cross-functional partner.
  • Focus on developing reliable and impactful AI systems for detection, analysis, threat intelligence and process automation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, with experience influencing executive stakeholders through regular communication.
  • Transform, automate and scale up our team processes by developing AI Agents.
  • Automate a large fraction of our operational workload, like alert generation and incident analysis, using techniques derived from ML, LLMs, operations research.
