Platform Reliability Engineering sits within Google’s SRE group that focuses on improving structural and operational reliability for Google’s world-class services.
Google SRE ensures that all Google products are reliable by default. The Platform Reliability (PRE) organization is the platform arm of this mission, building software platforms, tools and best-practices for the rest of SRE and all of Google’s developers to easily build and operate reliable-by-default production services. The PRE Technical Program Management Office (PMO) is a 50+ people program management organization that is instrumental to the delivery of PRE’s Google-wide mission. We organize PRE’s Engineering teams around the predictable delivery of PRE’s software platforms. We drive adoption of and compliance with PRE’s platforms, policies and best-practices across Google Cloud and other product areas, and are responsible for running and improving organizational execution routines for the PRE organization.As the Director of the Technical Program Management Office, you will organize the PMO Technical Program Managers to drive excellence in the software development practices of PRE’s Engineering team, building transparency, predictability of execution, and focus on the customer. You'll organize the PMO Technical Program Managers to drive Cloud-wide and Google-wide programs that ensure wide adoption of PRE’s platforms, tools, and practices. You will structure, improve, and operate the rhythm of execution for the PRE organization.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $272,000-$383,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Lead a cohesive technical program management organization to deliver on the top program priorities across Platform Reliability in alignment with the PRE organization leaders.
- Ensure continued transparency and excellence in PRE’s Cloud-wide and Google-wide program execution through proactive leadership from the PRE TPM organization.
- Land these programs’ values to Google and its customers on time and within budget. Ensure that the PRE TPM organization drives healthy software development practices across PRE platform and tools teams, with a focus on predictability/transparency, quality, and ease-of-adoption by Google product areas.
- Lead and improve PRE’s rhythm of execution including its portfolio management practices, quarterly business reviews, program reviews, etc. Increase consistency of execution practices across PRE’s organizational pillars.
- Build strong partnerships with organizations outside of PRE that help PRE deliver on its mission.
