Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management.
- Experience in Hard Disk Drives and Tape Storage category or commodity management, negotiate agreements and supplier development.
Preferred qualifications:
- MBA or Master's degree in a technical or engineering field.
- 10 years of experience managing Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Tape Storage commodities.
- Knowledge of the Hard Disk Drive (HDD) and Tape Storage industry, manufacturing, assembly and test processes.
- Excellent investigative skills in industry analysis, cost modeling, quotation analysis, roadmap development, and supplier selection.

Commodity Managers work with Engineering teams to make sure Google has the supplies and equipment to put into production the innovative products coming from our Engineering teams. As a Commodity Manager, you use your wide industry knowledge and strategic supplier relationships to optimize our total cost of ownership for our global -- and growing -- infrastructure. The scale at which Google operates means that savings on just one piece of hardware can have a huge impact on Google's bottom line.
As a Global Commodity Manager, you will develop commodity strategies and execute on them. You will lead cross-functional teams through the supplier selection process for new platforms/components. You will conduct business discussions and secure comprehensive agreements with suppliers. You'll maintain a high level of industry skills and supplier/market conditions, and manage supplier performance in cost, quality, delivery, and technology alignment. You will propose and implement supply chain improvements.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $147,000-$216,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Develop long term sourcing strategies for Hard Disk Drives and Tape Storage. Implement Supply Chain improvements.
- Develop and manage master purchase agreements with suppliers. Conduct high-level discussion and secure comprehensive agreements with supplier executives.
- Lead cross-functional teams while growing and maintaining a high level of industry expertise and supplier/market conditions.
- Manage supplier relationships and performance in technology alignment, cost, quality, delivery and resiliency.
- Interface with engineering for early engagement and roadmap alignment and lead supplier selection for Tape Storage.
