Technical Program Manager III, Hardware Compliance, Cloud AI Systems

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with international hardware compliance standards and certifications (e.g., FCC, CISPR, ICES, VCCI, NRTL, CE, BSMI, BIS, ANATEL, KCC, etc.).
  • Experience managing industrial hardware systems (e.g., data center infrastructure, automated manufacturing systems, etc.)

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience working with integrated physical automation systems (including robotics and purpose-built automated machinery and equipment), software-based business process supervisory systems, and programmable logic controller based equipment controls systems.
  • Experience managing third party development and manufacturing activities.
  • Knowledge of data center operations and technical infrastructure.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Compliance Program Manager in Platforms Infrastructure Engineering, you will play a critical role in developing and delivering one of the world’s most advanced computing and AI infrastructure. You will partner closely with engineering teams to ensure products meet global Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), safety, and regulatory standards, enabling successful worldwide product deployments. You will engage early in the product development cycle with various disciplines (e.g., trade compliance, logistics, contract manufacturing, commodity managers, legal, electrical, mechanical, etc.) to integrate compliance requirements into specifications and designs, and collaborate with external test and certification agencies to meet country-specific regulations. Additionally, you will oversee product certification documentation and labeling to ensure readiness for deployment in all target markets.

The ML, Systems, & Cloud AI (MSCA) organization at Google designs, implements, and manages the hardware, software, machine learning, and systems infrastructure for all Google services (Search, YouTube, etc.) and Google Cloud. Our end users are Googlers, Cloud customers and the billions of people who use Google services around the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$229,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Research and stay up to date on countries' specific product regulatory compliance requirements that impact technical infrastructure/platforms deployment.
  • Work closely with our compliance engineering teams and project management teams to understand new project specifications and requirements, subsequently collaborating with cross-functional teams (e.g., contract manufacturing, commodity, logistic and trade legal) to manage product certifications for the projects. Publish and maintain updated plans for certification status.
  • Develop the infrastructure/process to enable a systematic and scalable approach to securing product regulatory compliance certifications for the growing deployment countries.
  • Be responsible for the quality of regulatory compliance repository and upkeeping records in regular cadence.
  • Address audit requests and resolve non-compliance issues using the most efficient and cost effective methods.
