Lab Architect Manager, Cloud Learning Services

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience managing technical program areas including managing technical people, communicating technical concepts to audiences, and managing projects (developing plans, tracking progress, meeting deadlines).
  • 3 years of experience with Google Cloud platform or similar cloud technologies.
  • 3 years of experience with software development (e.g., Python).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certification in Professional Cloud Architect for Google Cloud, Terraform, or other cloud certifications.
  • Experience building learning technologies or technical writing.
  • Experience with Containers (Docker), Kubernetes, or Linux (Debian).
  • Experience leading agile development practices.
  • Experience with data analytics.

About the job

As a Lab Architect Manager, you will play a key leadership role within Google Cloud Learning Services, reporting to the Director of Content. You will lead a team of skilled lab developers who design and build interactive, learning experiences for Google Cloud Skills Boost. You will oversee both the big-picture strategy and the day-to-day operations of the lab development program. This includes ensuring your team builds labs that are not only engaging for learners, but also reliable, accessible, relevant, and up-to-date.

Beyond lab creation, your team will explore innovative new approaches to learning and guide other teams in developing their own high-quality labs. This center of excellence model ensures that learners across Google Cloud benefit from the best learning experiences.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $156,000-$234,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define the outlook and strategy for the lab development program, including roadmaps, project scopes, and success metrics. Partner with stakeholders across Google Cloud to align on priorities, share best practices, and drive impactful outcomes.
  • Lead a team of technical lab developers, providing regular feedback, coaching, and support for career development. Manage external vendors to expand lab development efforts, including budget and resource management.
  • Innovate and enhance lab development programs by finding creative solutions to complex challenges. This includes improving processes, tools, and labs through experimentation and data-driven decision-making.
  • Create and maintain a center of excellence for lab development, which will offer resources, documentation, and training to empower other teams to build high-quality labs.
  • Lead special projects that require cross-functional collaboration and have a broad impact beyond the immediate team.
