About the job
The Quantum Calibration team supports the calibration and characterization of our superconducting processors through research and engineering towards robust automation of qubit characterization and high fidelity gate calibration. As a Calibration Engineer, you will be the critical link between raw quantum hardware and a reliable, production-ready system for our external users. In this high-impact role, you will sit at the intersection of quantum physics, software engineering, and systems architecture to transition our flagship superconducting quantum processors from the lab to cloud. You will be responsible for the development and maintenance of sophisticated automated systems designed to bring up, calibrate, and maintain performance of cutting-edge qubit devices. By developing robust automated measurement software and debugging/diagnostic tools, you will ensure our full quantum stack meets rigorous, enterprise-grade reliability specifications. Ultimately, you will be responsible for integrating state-of-the-art calibration techniques into our production environment, pushing the boundaries of what our quantum hardware can achieve.
The full potential of quantum computing will be unlocked with a large-scale computer capable of complex, error-corrected computations. Google Quantum AI's mission is to build this computer and unlock solutions to classically intractable problems. Our roadmap is focused on advancing the capabilities of quantum computing and enabling meaningful applications.
