Associate Commercial Counsel, Cloud Legal, Go-to-Market

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD or LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of attorney-level experience in government, in-house, or at a law firm.
  • Experience working on cloud services and technology agreements and supporting an enterprise business team.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience negotiating cloud services and other technology agreements.
  • Experience directly supporting an enterprise business team.
  • Knowledge of AI, data privacy, security, IP, professional services, and regulatory matters relevant to enterprise cloud transactional legal work.
  • Ability to explain legal issues clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team and manage multiple agreements and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent investigative, problem-solving, communication and organizational skills.

The US West Cloud Legal Go-to-Market (GTM) Team supports the dynamic and fast-growing enterprise cloud business in the west region and Strategic Artificial Intelligence and Independent Software Vendor (SAISV) vertical. We negotiate agreements with customers, advise business and product teams on issues, and partner with other teams across cloud and global affairs to deliver growth while mitigating risk.


Your role as Associate Commercial Counsel will involve a wide range of transactional work, including outbound cloud services, AI, data privacy, security, professional services, intellectual property, and regulatory matters. You will advise cloud business executives and leads on legal and other risks, contract interpretation issues, and strategy. You will also deliver programmatic improvements to cloud agreements making through the development of improved resources and processes, helping the cloud business continue to scale.20th century laws don't always solve 21st century problems, and Google Legal crafts innovative approaches for working with some of the toughest legal challenges of the information age. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $210,000-$312,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, draft, and structure enterprise cloud customer agreements, with a focus on cloud services, AI, data privacy, security, professional services, Internet Protocol (IP), and regulatory terms, and other agreements as needed.
  • Advise cloud business executives and lead on agreement strategy, legal and business risks, contract interpretation, regulatory issues, and other transaction and customer relationship matters.
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholder teams across global affairs and cloud such as Agreement Pursuit, Accounting, Compliance, and others to deliver growth and support responsible agreement making.
  • Promote the continuous improvement of cloud agreement making through resource and fallback creation and programmatic enhancements.
