Strategic Partnerships Development Manager, Search and Gemini (English, Japanese)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in a functional area (e.g., business development, partnerships, sales, management consulting, investment banking, fintech, strategy, or operations).
  • Ability to communicate in English and Japanese fluently as this is a customer-facing role that requires interactions with clients and stakeholders locally and internationally.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in negotiating and closing strategic partnerships and renewals, and the ability to clarify and summarize complex issues, with effective relationship-building skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and translate problems into project opportunities aligned with evolving business priorities, with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate in Mandarin, Japanese or Korean fluently in order to communicate with representatives from stakeholders, who may be from China, Japan or South Korea.
  • Excellent investigative skills regarding agreements, technical, and financial issues with partners, and the ability to effectively influence.

About the job

Our mission is to drive growth of Google's core products, Search and Gemini, through new experiences tailored to APAC, supporting new and long term product bets in this region. The Search and Gemini team focuses on contributing to and influencing Product Strategies, acquiring content in the effective and efficient manner, and fostering a healthy partner ecosystem to support Search and Gemini features and power new AI-driven experiences.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners. Google’s Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business. The Global Partnerships team supports Google’s own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google’s user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more. Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with multiple partners as a key contributor to Search and Gemini product goals.
  • Drive the end-to-end partner experience to ensure successful agreement integration, including negotiating and finalizing agreements, executing account plans, pitching to partners, resolving partner issues, and advocating on behalf of the partner.
  • Manage existing partnerships, launch new relationships, drive new business opportunities, resolve business issues, and analyze and track key metrics to identify trends.
  • Influence and collaborate effectively with teams across the organization (Product, Engineering, Legal, and other cross-functional teams) to align resources and direction for go-to-market strategy or partner initiatives.
  • Drive partner strategy, including prospecting for new partners and opportunities, conducting partner/industry research, and collaborating on product strategy.
