Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6 years of experience in telecommunications working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers, and data services.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, a related field.
- Experience with defining system or process requirements, building, integrating, or delivering layer 1, layer 2 or layer 3 network systems, managing capacity augment/migration projects.
- Experience with Network System Design, Network Architecture and Technology and Network Infrastructure.
- Experience with network forecasting and planning and design tools, workflow automation and improvement.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, problem-solving and cost-benefit analysis and data analysis skills, along with attention to detail.
- Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills in an ambiguous and busy operations environment.

In this role, you will plan and design Google's production global network. You will execute and build upon the direction of an optical, edge, core and campus network infrastructure. You will also ensure that the network is built on-time while meeting our reliability and policy requirements. You will develop network planning and design standard procedures, processes and tooling. You will work with software teams to drive the software automation road map to improve the quality and reduce the cycle time for network planning and design.

Responsibilities
- Produce plans and designs to meet all network infrastructure and capacity plans for Google’s global production network in line with established standards. Design solutions and create project plans that identify resource needs. Communicate with internal business partners to collect drivers and deadlines.
- Participate in planning and change management sessions in an operational environment, providing design suggestions and approvals.
- Provide subject matter expertise throughout the NPI lifecycle. Integrating new NPI solutions and ensuring tools and processes are ready.
- Drive the automation road-map of all automatable team tasks, reducing cycle time and improving quality and consistency.
- Set up practices and business policies that improve performance, reliability, and reduce risk. Evolve business processes throughout their life-cycle, including the architectural definition and hardware life-cycle.
